WE CAAN INC - our goal is to provide these 5 ESSENTIALS that are basic for all human beings as our mission and vision with every project we partner with in Africa. Seeking to balance and preserve their cultural traditions with sustainable economic opportunity.
HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF OUR WORK IN ACTION:
FDCYS ORPHANAGE, NYANGO VILLAGE, UGANDA- installed 10,000 litre water tank for rain water collection to provide clean drinking water for the children. Built a dormitory building and toilet facility for the 125 orphan children who had formerly been living in a one-room home.
NGOUNDOUP VILLAGE, CAMEROON- helped fund a clean water project installing pipes from the local mountains down into village to provide clean drinking water for villagers.
MKWIYA VILLAGE, MALAWI- installed permanent connection with the water purfication system from Lake Malawi's clean water source for drinking water for the village.
NYANGO VILLAGE, UGANDA- purchased additional plots of land for FDCYS orphanage for them to grow their own sustainable food supply and planted many varieties of fruit trees.
HAPPY FARMERS OF NYANGO VILLAGE, UGANDA- set up Farming Cooperative for 225 subsistence farmers in the village and provided them with basic tools, seeds, fruit trees, and workshop with local professionals to instruct what crops and foods grow best in each of their three planting seasons. Purchased an additional plot of land that farming cooperative plants, harvests, and sells crops of community educational needs.
NGOUNDOUP VILLAGE, CAMEROON- with a very generous donation of land (approximately 10 acres) we have started cultivation on about 5 of these acres. This is a women-driven project and they have cleared this entire area, prepped the land for cultivation, and will be planting appx 500 avocado and mango trees that will become a "cash crop" for them in about 4-5 years. They are also planting staple crops of maize, vegetables, and plantain. Profits are used to help the widows and orphaned children in this village.
FDCYS ORPHANAGE,NYANGO VILLAGE, UGANDA- we pay school fees for all 125 orphans at FDCYS. We also built a one-room school building for the on-site pre-school children. We pay the monthly salaries of all 4 staff members at FDCYS.
MKWIYA VILLAGE, MALAWI- construction of a Women's Cooperative and Study Center that is used by our women's group, Tsogolo Iowala, and as a teaching facility for young people in the village to learn about the importance of their environment and ways to make it sustainable.
YAOUNDA, CAMEROON- provided funding for a small store organic products for women's health and beauty needs. Profits benefit women who need help providing for their children's education.
NYANGO VILLAGE, UGANDA- the establishment of village cooperatives to provide Job Training to the local people- basket-making, sewing, carpentry, farming. We have completed construction of a permanent building for these 3 job-training cooperatives to use.
FDCYS, NYANGO, UGANDA. Built a small store that sells food supplies and staples to the people of Nyango village and profits are used to cover some of the operating costs of the orphanage.
